Install Python

The following are the steps to download and install the python.
  • Get the latest version of Python at https://www.python.org/downloads/ or with your operating system’s package manager.
  • Click on “Download Python” button and download installer. Here we are talking about the windows installer. Installers are available for Mac, Linux, and other operating systems.

  • Windows installer will download python-x.x.x.exe. You need to run this exe to install python.
  • When you run exe then it will lunch pop screen and ask from Install Launcher and Add Path. Select both options and click on Install Now link.

  • Once Python is installed then you can verify its installation by checking python version from command prompt by executing following command:
    c:/>python --version
    It will show you output
    Python 3.7.3

Install Python Editor

There are many Python editors available online such as Atom, Spyder, Thonny, Sublime Text3, etc. you can use any of them but I found visual studio code editor is the most user-friendly that is used in this tutorial.

Visual Studio Code is a lightweight but powerful source code editor that runs on your desktop and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It comes with built-in support for JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js and has a rich ecosystem of extensions for other languages.

Following are the steps to install Visual Studio Code editor:

Download this editor by clicking on this link https://code.visualstudio.com/docs  to download this editor. by clicking on the download button at the top of the right side.

  • After the editor is downloaded  install the editor by clicking on VSCodeSetup-ia32-x.xx.x.exe from the download folder.
  • When installation will be completed then editor will be automatically opened 
  • or you can open  the editor  from desktop icon

DJango :

This package is required for web application development in Python. Use PIP command to install DJango package 

>pip install django 

  • Once Django is installed then you can verify its installation by checking django version from command prompt by executing following command:
    c:/>python -m django --version
    It will show you output

Anaconda :

Anaconda does contain modules (libraries) for Data Science, Machine Learning libraries like Panda, Scipy, NumPy, MatPlotLib, etc. It contains more than 1500 modules for your enterprise application. Anaconda distribution is a free and open-source platform for Python/R programming languages.
  • We can directly download it by clicking on this link. We will install for windows https://www.anaconda.com/products/individual
  • after download Install  ".exe" file (Anaconda3-2020.02-Windows-x86_64.exe) of Anaconda. It will open a setup window for Anaconda installations as given in the below image.
  • Keep on clicking Next button to complete the installation.
    • Click on Finish to end the process.

    • To open anaconda click start button search anaconda navigator, and click on it. Launch vs code (Python IDE) to write the first program.

    Anaconda has conda command to install additional modules. 

    If you do not wish to use anaconda then alternatively, you can install the above-mentioned modules (libraries) using the PIP command.
